Series «naturally out»

Vincenzo Paolino

“I’m always open with staff and other members of the management about the fact that I’m gay.

I probably wouldn't mention it in an interview - but then the focus is on the candidate. Otherwise, I have no problem talking about my husband Jürg in the right situation. We've been together for 20 years.

People in the team are always very positive. I’ve never kept the fact that I’m gay from the people who live in the Almacasa homes or their relatives. Sometimes they ask whether I’m married. Then I show them my ring and say: ?“Yes, my husband and I got married on 12.12.12.” Sometimes they pause for a moment, but then their eyes often light up and I get some wonderful feedback. I think they see my openness as a sign of trust.”
